Introduction: Learning is the fundamental principle of all human progress in the modern world. Many factors affect student learning. One of these factors affecting the educational performance of learners is learning styles.
Method: The present study is a narrative review study. The search for articles was conducted without time limits and using Persian keywords; learning style, medical students, medical students, dental students separately and in combination. The required data were extracted using a checklist that included; author, year of study, location of study, sample size, type of study, type of learning style, most learning style and least learning style.
Results: In studies conducted on learning styles in dental students, the most learning style in Kolb's model was convergent and in Vark's learning style was auditory. In studies conducted on learning styles in medical students, the most common learning style in the Kolb’s model was absorbing and in the Vark learning style was auditory. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that the most common learning style in dental and medical students was based on the Kolb’s model (convergent-absorbing) and in the Vark model (auditory-auditory). It is suggested that, while considering individual differences, educational planning and the selection of teaching methods should be in a way that is appropriate to the different learning styles of medical and dental students and that diverse and modern educational methods should be used.
