Introduction: Nursing staff have crucial role in the health care systems. So, their Education has a wide role in promoting   the   scientific and professional skills among nurses. This study was conducted to investigate the nurses' opinion about continuous Nursing Education in teaching hospitals of Bandar Abbas.
Methods: This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted on 3 teaching hospitals in Bandar Abbas in 2011. The members of target population were 390 nurses. The data were collected by an approved questionnaire which consisted of demographic information, and six areas consist of motivation, continuous education barriers, and continuous education needs, educational methods, educational equipments and opinion about up-to date information, were evaluated.  The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and ANOVA method.
Results: there was not significant relationship between six evaluated areas and sex, genus, marriage and Categories of carrier. 45% of nurses were believed that increasing their knowledge is main purpose to participate in (CNE). The issue of 55.7% was that the most barriers to participate in educational program is the lack of enough time. On the whole 65.5% of participant have been evaluated the (CNE) as a moderate and 48% believed that designing (CNE) as a workshop, is more effectiveness than other educational methods.
Conclusion: In order to increase nurses' motivation and to provide the best value for (CNE), we should increase number of nurses in hospitals, decreasing the workload, attempts to reduce the barriers for (CNE) programs and giving special time for these programs .Before  designing  (CNE) , it is necessary to evaluate the educational needs of nurses.
