Introduction: Nursing PhD programs are designed to cultivate the necessary competencies in graduates to fulfill professional roles that are responsive to societal demands. Nevertheless, discrepancies in the curricula offered across different programs highlight the need for comparative analysis to further develop the discipline of nursing. This study aimed to compare the curricula of nursing PhD programs in Bloomberg University and Iran.
Methods: This descriptive-comparative study was done based Bereday’s model and compare components of nursing PhD program curriculum in Iran and Bloomberg University. Data were gathered through a comprehensive internet search and then subjected to a rigorous analysis process involving description, interpretation, juxtaposition, and comparison.
Results: Despite shared similarities, these universities exhibited distinct differences in purpose, curriculum, and program implementation. Bloomberg University, in particular, was characterized by its unique curricular content, pedagogical methods, and anticipated graduate roles.
Conclusion: To enhance the quality of Iranian PhD nursing graduates, a comprehensive review of course content and delivery methods is recommended, aligned with the evolving roles and expectations of graduates and societal needs. Furthermore, a rigorous evaluation of the curriculum from the perspectives of both PhD students and faculty is essential to identify strengths, weaknesses, and inform future program development.
