Introduction: One of the most important issues that can attract the attention of health systems and managers and planners of hospital systems is the reason for a patient’s request to leave the hospital with personal desire and consent. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of discharge by personal consent in hospitalized patients.
Methods: This review study was conducted with the aim of investigating the causes of discharge with personal satisfaction in hospitalized patients. Searches were conducted to identify relevant studies. The databases of Persian data base SID, Magiran, Elmnet and Google Scholar search engine were searched. The search strategy was a combination of keywords and subject headings and keywords related to: reasons for discharge, personal satisfaction, leaving the hospital.
Results: Titles and abstracts of retrieved articles were independently screened by two people against predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Full-text articles of potentially relevant studies were obtained and further assessed for eligibility. Disagreements in study selection were resolved through discussion or consultation with a third reviewer. A standardized data extraction form was developed to capture relevant information from the included studies. The investigated information includes: author, year, location, type of study, sample size, type of questionnaire, inpatient department, percentage of personal satisfaction and outcome. information such as communication; Age, gender, marital status, type of insurance, level of education and hospital shift were measured with personal satisfaction of the patients.
Combine Content and Results: 23 studies were included in the study after checking the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The relationship between age and personal satisfaction was significant in (10) studies, gender (8) studies, marital status (6) studies, insurance type (7) studies and hospital shift (2) studies. The percentage of personal satisfaction in the studied studies was from 19.65 to 84%.
Conclusion: According to the percentage of personal satisfaction in the included studies, it is necessary to increase the awareness of patients about the possible complications of premature discharge, planning an outpatient treatment plan, and improving the quality of medical and therapeutic services can help in reducing cases of satisfaction with personal desire.
