In terms of training, motivation is a multi-faceted structure that is associated with learning and academic achievement. Also there is a positive correlation between the motivations of students with health risk behaviors. Accordingly, we decided to check the status of educational motivation and some related factors in students. Methods: This cross-sectional study examined the educational motivation and some related factors in Health and Nutrition School in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. 260 people were randomly selected and studied. AMS is to collect data on academic motivation scale. Data collected entered to the software spss-16 and by using the descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation were analyzed. Results: The mean score of academic motivation of the participants in the study, 84/0 ± 31/4, the mean intrinsic motivation 07/1 ± 33/4, external motivation 1 ± 78/4 and lack of motivation was 47/1 ± 83/2. In this study, only between the external motivation in the area of external regulation and matched with marital status and public health field was observed significant relationship (Pvalue < 0.05). Conclusion: Despite academic motivation above average in all areas in this study, are necessary more extensive studies to identify factors associated with academic motivation of students is done so as to thereby provide their further growth and prosperity.
