Abstract

Introduction: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the student’s mental health of Tabriz Medical Sciences University and its relationship with achievement motivation during 2013-2014. 

Methods: This was a correlational and predictive study that was conducted on 300 students (150 females, 150 males) among all the students studying in the school, during 2013-2014. To collect the data, the Goldberg General Health and Hermance Achievement Motivation questionnaires were used. Using  correlation statistics the obtained data was analyzed by SPSS program version 18.

Results: Results showed that subjects in this study had a relatively good mental health status and achievement motivation. But there were some differences among students of different fields and gender. A difference was observed in achievement motivation, but this difference was not significant in mental health. Considering different fields of study, there were significant differences in achievement motivation, but there was no significant difference in mental health.

Conclusion: Totally the people involved in educational systems can develop the other variables by providing a favorable environment for the growth and development of the desired variables.
